Growing up at Sunset Church in foggy San Francisco, Brian often heard about missions. In his high school years, he got the chance to join the Mexico missions team. Wanting to go a step further after graduating college, Brian joined the Pioneers Edge summer program in 2007 and went to Shimonoseki. In 2010, he headed back to Japan, this time to Fukuoka, through Pioneers’ one-year Venture program, and in 2011, continued as a long term missionary. Nozomi was born and raised in a Christian home in the southern prefecture of Miyazaki. Her love for music took her to Fukuoka and is now working as a music teacher at a Christian junior high school called Seinan. Brian and Nozomi met at Fukuoka Bible Church and got to know each other as they served on the worship team. They got married in 2013 and are now serving at FBC as partnered missionaries.

One Sunday morning on the windswept prairie of Alberta, Canada, Stephanie heard the story of missionary Hudson Taylor, and her life was never the same. With childhood faith, she knew “When I grow up, I’m going to serve God as a missionary too.” Stephanie attended Prairie Bible College, graduating in 2006 with a BA in Intercultural Studies and a new interest in what God was doing in Japan. In 2008, she came to Japan as a Pioneers missionary and studied Japanese for two years at the OMF Japanese Language Center in Sapporo. She is currently living in Fukuoka, where she is involved in church planting ministries with the Pioneers Fukuoka team.
